As the summer heats up, so does the Major League Baseball season. Mike “the Buzz-saw” Asti and George “the Howitzer” Gerbo leave all the asinine news of the rest of the sports world alone for this episode of the critically acclaimed Howitzer and Buzz-saw Show!
Will a diminished trade market cause consideration to extend the trade deadline a couple of weeks for future seasons? The addition of an extra wild card spot has allowed more teams to believe they’re contenders and fewer teams willing to sell. Is this a problem that needs addressed? Would moving back the deadline make some of the “contenders” realize they are actually pretenders and create more players available? If the deadline date is changed to mid August, would freshly acquired players not have enough time with their new teams? We’ve got another debate with Mike and George on opposite sides! That ensures entertainment for everyone else.
Which teams MUST make a move? Which teams either on the fringe or not currently in a playoff position should buy? Where will David Price be pitching come August? Do the Detroit Tigers hold the keys to how active this deadline actually is? Can any teams down in the standings buy and improve their chances? What pitchers available may come at a cheaper price than Price, but be a great addition? Has the value of Yoenis Cespedes been overrated? What should the Dodgers do with Yasiel Puig?
